About the branch:

The Regional Services Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service Delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action plan and the requirements of the Division's State-wide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.

Each region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves.  Staff working within the region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.

About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Project Officer Northern Peninsula your primary focus will be to support project/implementation role for Parks Victoria's projects at a park level. You will be working on a wide array of areas of work, such as in park asset, environmental, community, heritage works that are to be delivered as part of a defined project with tied specific funding to that project.

The role performs a variety of tasks and work in all phases of a project, from the beginning stages to completion under direction. You will have a thorough understanding of project management and of the goals of the work and prioritise and track the implementation of the work. Reporting to the Ranger Team Leader, you will provide advice and information on the implementation of the Management Plans, and assist the Ranger Team Leader with information and advice on the cascade of accountabilities and deliverables as well as any emerging issues.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Land Management is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor management.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in workload management.
  • Track record in dealing with external stakeholders at a senior level on a range of land management issues.
