The service assists over 132,000 Victorians over the telephone each year providing information, legal advice and referrals on a wide variety of legal issues. This service is provided in English and over 20 other languages.

The role provides accurate, responsive and high quality legal information on a wide range of legal matters and referrals to legal and non-legal services. This position does not require you to provide legal advice and does not involve ongoing case work or court advocacy. You have experience working in a legal environment and/or are tertiary qualified in law. You can demonstrate problem solving skills and the capacity to diagnose legal problems to accurately assess and address client needs. You have an understanding of the referral service practice and knowledge of legal, community and welfare organisations. You are a team player and can work within a high-pressure environment.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients over the phone and stakeholders at all levels. You will have a good understanding of the key challenges vulnerable individuals and groups experience accessing legal services

Fluency in a language other than English will be highly regarded.
