About the role

The Ports and Waterways Engineer will be a qualified engineer with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. The day-to-day activity includes:

  • Technical review of proposed third party on-water construction and dredging activities within Parks Victoria ports and waterways,
  • Technical investigations, condition assessments and designs for the ports and waterways infrastructure,
  • Project management including engagement of contractor(s) or consultant(s) via the State Government tendering process for construction implementation,
  • Maintain and update the asset register,
  • Supervision of minor and medium scale works

The role will assist in asset management and the whole of life approach to managing a $400 million+ maritime infrastructure estate.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Engineering qualifications are mandatory with experience sufficient to be admitted into the corporate ‘membership' status of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in coastal and maritime engineering profession including design, planning, decision making and problem solving.
  • Knowledge and experience with planning processes and permits, Environmental Effects Statements, Heritage values and listings, Building and Works Permits and legislation is desirable.
