About the branch

The Melbourne Division is responsible for the delivery of on-ground works and services that conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Divisional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for Melbourne communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and in partnership with community and government agencies.

Melbourne Division consists of a diverse range of Local Ports, waterways, parks and reserves. Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, local port and waterway management, commercial management, community engagement, stakeholder management and emergency response.

About the role and your responsibilities: 

As the Point Nepean Project Coordinator, you will support the Business Development and Activation Manager and a multidisciplinary team from across Parks Victoria to progress and implement key initiatives of the Point Nepean National Park Master Plan. These deliver on a vision to ensure that the unique and special qualities of Point Nepean are revealed and protected and that the complex stories of the site as a cultural landscape are valued and expressed.

You will be required to perform a variety of tasks and work in all phases of projects. This includes project management and delivery of discrete projects in addition to providing support to more complex projects. Projects include commercial and community activation of the historic Quarantine Station (including camping), parkwide storytelling and interpretation and the opening of new trails.

As the Point Nepean Project Coordinator you will also play a key role in delivering adaptive reuse of the historic buildings of the Quarantine Station. This is a great opportunity to apply innovative thinking and where you are able to work effectively in a changing and ambiguous environment. You will demonstrate your project management skills and be able to prioritise and track the implementation of the work. You will also be required to provide secretariat services to assist with the smooth operation of the Point Nepean National Park Management Advisory Committee, timely, quality and appropriate range of services to meet the requirements of the Regional Operations Plan.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business and/or equivalent experience in a similar field is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, brief writing and delivery is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in engagement and stakeholder management experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement and managing contracts with consultants and contractors is desirable.
