About the branch

The Infrastructure and Information Technology Division provides core support in information technology and physical resources such as accommodation and fleet. The division provides the strategies, business processes and systems to efficiently and effectively deliver these core support services to enable Parks Victoria to be financially sustainable, safe and technologically enabled.

The IT Services (ITS) Divisionis led by Parks Victoria's Chief Information Officer and comprises four functions - Engage, Plan, Build and Run. The Senior Business Analyst is part of the Engage function of the Parks Victoria Information Technology organisation.

About the role and your responsibilities:

As the Senior Business Analyst your primary focus will be to act as the intermediary between the business and IT establishing an understanding of business needs and technology requirements through having a deep knowledge of business processes and technology to ensure key stakeholders achieve their desired outcomes. You will also manage the review and analysis of business needs, services, processes and information to identify changes that lead to business improvements and achieve the desired IT outcomes. Working with the Strategic IT business partner, you will manage supporting processes that assist with the management and prioritisation of initiatives based on business needs and requirements.

The overall role objectives are fundamentally achieved by evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, exploring options and then documenting them as inputs into pipeline and delivery processes. In addition, you will represent the business needs on project teams during project evaluation and initiation, ensuring quality requirements and solution options are presented and align with the business and IT strategy. You will also manage the required pipeline processes (new ideas, initiatives and backlogs) and facilitate requirements gathering workshops with both business and technical stakeholders.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Demonstrated strong business analysis experience to identify, facilitate, analyse, document and validate business processes (as-is, to-be) and requirements (functional & non-functional) on IT projects.
  • Demonstrated strong experience in convening and facilitation workshops to gather and enrich requirements details for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide consultative support on business-led technology initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and tools.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or similar is highly regarded.
