About Us

The Loddon Mallee Region provides services at Justice Service Centres in Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca and Mildura and at outreach locations across the region, including Castlemaine, Maryborough, Kerang, Robinvale, Kyneton and Ouyen. The region also has three prisons, a medium risk facility (Loddon) and a restricted minimum facility (Middleton) in Castlemaine and a minimum risk women's facility, Tarrengower Prison in Maldon.

About the Role

In the Loddon Mallee Region the Justice Officer role specialises in one of three streams – Human Resources, Finance, and Business Support. Over time, there may be an opportunity to work in one or more of these streams, on a rotational basis, enabling career development opportunities and operational flexibility to the region.  Appropriate support and training will be provided.

The Justice officer Payroll contributes to the delivery of personnel and payroll services to Loddon Mallee Region Prisons, and, in consultation with the Team Leader prepares, maintains and distributes the duty roster on a fortnightly basis and adjusts entries as required.

This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Well-developed computer literacy
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in Payroll systems
  • An ability to present oneself in a polite, professional and considerate manner when dealing with others, and be aware of other people's moods and temperament. Also able to express own views in a constructive and diplomatic way, and reflect on how own emotions impact on others
  • Experience using CHRS21 and Time Target will be highly regarded.
