  • Full time ongoing position based in Melbourne CBD
  • Salary commensurate with experience, range: $67,164 - $86,914 plus superannuation

About the role:
Our Criminal Law program is seeking an experienced people manager for the excellent opportunity to lead and manage the Summary Crime administrative service team. This team provides support to three service areas including Summary Crime, Therapeutic Courts and the Bail and Remand Court which operates during the day and at night.

In this role you will lead a dedicated team of legal assistants, ensuring the effective day to day operations of the team and service delivery objectives are met. With a commitment to the ongoing success of the team, you will coordinate the administrative support provided to legal staff and work collaboratively with fellow members of the criminal law management team to develop and implement policies and strategies that enhance and support quality service provision.

This presents an excellent opportunity for an administration services expert with a keen interest in broadening their people management skills and working within the legal industry.

About you:
You will have strong customer service skills with experience managing a administrative service team and/or proven people management capability in driving service delivery improvements in a fast paced and changing environment. You have the proven ability to effectively supervise staff, manage physical resources and foster a positive and high performing team environment.

Crucial to your success in this role is your understanding and experience of leading the provision of effective administrative support services, and ability to apply this to the benefit of both the legal support team and summary crime team more broadly.

Your general knowledge of the criminal law jurisdiction and legal procedures will be highly regarded, but equally important is your drive to continually improve your knowledge and experience in this area. As such, previous experience working in a criminal law environment is not a mandatory requirement to start in the role.
