Position overview
The Lead Appeals Officer is responsible for providing oversight of the Senior Appeals Officers and their case management duties as well as high-level administrative support to the Building Appeals Board (BAB), the Manager/Registrar, Deputy Registrars and other members of the team. This is a key leadership role within the appeals/disputes area of the BAB's business in which the successful candidate will be required to develop and implement innovative procedures and reforms that are consistent with court/tribunal case management principles.
The role also involves advising and liaising with organisations and individuals making applications to the BAB, including the provision of authoritative advice regarding the BAB's procedures and the application process.
We are looking for:
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead, train, develop and support a small team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working in a Court or Tribunal environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the building regulatory framework including the Building Act 1993, the building regulations, the National Construction Code and other relevant legislation would be highly regarded.
