Position Details

  • Full time maximum term contract up to 12 months (parental leave backfill)
  • Salary commensurate with experience, VLA4 range: $86,915 - $108,642 plus superannuation

About the role:
Provide legal advice to staff in the areas of professional responsibility and ethics, statutory and other regulatory obligations including compliance with the Legal Aid Act 1978, the Legal Professional Uniform Law, privacy and FOI laws. You will assist in building the capacity of VLA staff to act consistently with VLA's obligations as a public sector entity and as legal professionals, including through training and the development and improvement of written tools and guidance notes. You will also contribute to the fair and effective resolution of complaints about VLA and support the strategic aims of VLA, including undertaking project and policy work as required.

About you:
You will have provided legal advice to a wide range of stakeholders about a variety of complex legal issues and have the capacity to contribute to the development of innovative ways of building the capacity of managers and staff to improve their knowledge and skills in the areas of professional responsibilities, ethics and other legal obligations. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
