The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) conducts State and local council elections and is responsible for promoting public awareness and understanding of electoral issues in the Victorian community.

About the Team

The VEC IT Branch, comprising approximately 25 team members, is responsible for the delivery of all the technology required by the VEC including software development and maintenance of all the applications required by the organisation to conduct and administer its electoral responsibilities. Also, the team manages a portfolio of applications used during an election which are critical to the success of the electoral events the VEC conduct.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the IT Operations Manager, the Senior Technical Consultant works as part of the IT Operations Team developing and maintaining this infrastructure, and ensuring the VEC has an IT environment that is stable, secure, responsive and fault-tolerant. Your contribution, along with your team members at VEC, will ensure that all Victorians actively participate in their democracy.

Day to day, the Senior Technical Consultant will be responsible for:
• Developing, managing and administering the VEC's on-premise infrastructure
• Leading the technical contribution to the VEC's Cloud strategic plan by providing technical expertise based on application service, operational delivery, platform security and stability within a rapidly changing technological landscape
• Developing strategies to drive continuous improvements in the functionality and resilience of the VECs technological appliances and systems
• Managing and maintaining a secure and stable Intranet environment for the VEC

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in-
• Administering Cisco networking devices,edge security applicances such as F5, Firewalls, WAF, Applications Gateways, Public DNS tenancies
• Managing cloud based technologies and how to apply best practice methodologies to implementing a secure and resilient cloud environment. (NSGs/ Firewalls/ WAF/ Availability Sets/ ASE/ AppService/ Gateways)
• Managing day to day operations by leveragling on system centre suite on premise and OMS in Azure
