About the role:  

As the Aboriginal Employment Programs Officer, the primary focus of your position is to provide specialist advice and leadership for culturally competent employment and development opportunities and programs for Aboriginal staff. You will work in alignment with People and Culture and the Parks Victoria Managing Country Together Framework to deliver the initiatives and objectives set out in the Aboriginal Employment and Wellbeing Plan. The initiatives have a particular focus on supporting career progression and development opportunities for Aboriginal staff, unlocking employment opportunities in public land management to expand the Aboriginal workforce and collaborating with our Caring for Country partners.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in leading initiatives pertaining to Aboriginal employment, career development and cultural safety
  • Experience in leading and managing change processes including initiatives that build cultural competence at an organisation-wide level
  • Proven ability in providing strategic, timely and accurate advice in relation to complex or sensitive issues

About the branch:

The Aboriginal Employment Programs Officer is part of the Managing Country Together Directorate which supports Parks Victoria to work effectively with Traditional Owners to manage cultural landscapes across the State. The Directorate is developing and supporting a program of reform that positions and prepares Parks Victoria for a rapidly changing operating environment.
