About the role:
We are seeking an experienced manager to lead our Assignments Criminal Law team. The Assignments unit is responsible for administering the legal aid fund through the provision of grants of legal assistance.

In collaboration with the Associate Directors, you will oversee the guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the provision of grants for legal assistance and monitor staff training and education to ensure quality service delivery. You will make decisions and exercise discretion in relation to applications for legal assistance. You will also act as a representative at various committees and working groups and foster productive relationships with key stakeholders.

About you:
You are an enthusiastic and engaged leader with an understanding of one or more legal areas including criminal, family, administrative or civil law. You will demonstrate leadership capabilities and be able to motivate a diverse team to achieve divisional goals and organisational targets. You will have management experience within the public or legal sector, including leading teams to high performance, managing change, and delivering on priorities. Prior experience managing administrative decision makers will be highly regarded.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your sound decision making skills to be able to interpret guidelines and policies and apply this ability in a variety of facts and complex situations. You will also demonstrate high level interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders.
