Position Details
- Care for heritage listed assets including the historic lighthouse and cottages
- The position is part of a small and highly motivated team based from Mallacoota
- Gabo Island is one of Victoria's most stunning and isolated work locations
About the role
In this role, you will be required to stay in residence on the island during their deployment (which may range from a few days up to four weeks). Tasks of the role include providing visitor, volunteer and contractor information, repairs and maintenance to heritage listed buildings, assets and infrastructure including the aerodrome, power supply, waste water system, potable water supply, tracks and trails. You will manage the commercial accomodation by managing bookings, guests inductions, lighthouse tours and servicing of the guest's quarters. Whilst not a requirement of the role, you may enter into an agreement with the Bureau of Meteorology to undertake daily weather observations.
We're looking for someone with:
- A tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience in land management or customer services is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in self reliance and working in highly isolated and remote locations.
- Customer service and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in lighthouse and heritage buildings management.
- Qualifications, skills, experience in tractor, side by side, crane operating, pumps and minor plant and equipment.
