Position Details

The Senior Technical Advisor, Building Appeals Board (BAB), is responsible for providing specialised technical services, responding to issues and enquiries, developing documentation, reports and briefings and liaising with industry. To be successful in this position you must be committed, driven, decisive and be a strong communicator.

This is a great opportunity to work on significant programs of work and develop your skill set working alongside technically strong and passionate team members. This role will also have the opportunity to work on-site together with Building Inspectors and Senior Technical Advisors from other units across the organisation.


  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the National Construction Code, the Building Act 1993, and Building Regulations.
  • Provide high-level technical support, assessment and presentations to a wide range of stakeholders including statutory boards and committees, internal units, building professionals and members of the public.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Strong technical background with qualifications in Building Surveying;
  • Strong understanding of the Building legislative hierarchy in Victoria; and
  • Experience assessing existing buildings for compliance with the legislative hierarchy.

Salary Details

Base salary in the VPS5 range of $98,396 - $119,052 per annum + 9.5% super.
