Design Specialist - Project Development

The Melbourne Metro Rail Authority is responsible for delivering the Metro Tunnel. The project will deliver: * Twin nine-kilometre rail tunnels from the west of the city to the south-east as part of a new Sunbury to Cranbourne/ Pakenham line * New underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain * Train/tram interchange at Domain * High capacity signalling to maximise the efficiency of the new fleet of High Capacity Metro Trains The $10.9 billion Metro Tunnel will free up the City Loop so more trains can run in and out of the city. MMRA is an Administrative Office established in relation to the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources. The Head of the Administrative Office is the Coordinator-General.

Position Details

This newly created technical specialist role is responsible for client side management of the design, development and engineering associated with metropolitan and regional rail network projects, initially working on the Ballarat Line Upgrade project.

The Design Specialist - Project Development will provide expert technical advice and guidance across a range of engineering and design issues during project development of multiple projects. The ability to build, maintain and influence strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders is fundamental to success in this role. The role coordinates all technical and engineering to the relevant work package, including the review of designs for comleteness, compliance to requirements, standards and constructability, drawing upon technical specialist knowledge from subject matter experts to resolve a range of engineering design challenges.
