Medical GP HMO

Current General Registration with AHPRA is mandatory

CGH is recruiting a Hospital Medical Officer for the Medical General Practice HMO role to provide patient centred, evidenced based care to our community.  The position is ideal for doctors seeking further hospital experience and is an opportunity to develop a long term career, supported by an individual capability and development plan, education and training and secure a career medical officer / senior medical officer position with CGH in our Emergency Department.

ED presentations average around 16,000 per annum with support from specialty teams in General Surgery, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Anaesthetics. Onsite pathology and medical imaging are available including Nuclear Medicine and MRI.  A variety of visiting specialists provide surgical services and community consulting in ENT, Ophthalmology, Minor Orthopedics, Upper GI, Urology, IVF, Paediatric Surgery, Renal and Vascular Medicine, Cardiology, Medical and Radiation Oncology and Dermatology.

The GP HMO will manage patients admitted under the General Practitioner Unit and will work closely with the GP Clinical Lead and GP Consultants and is expected to work in a highly collaborative manner within the medical and surgical units, emergency department and with all members of the Health Service.

The HMO will actively participate in the planning, coordination, evaluation and implementation of a range of clinical interventions that supports reflective, evidence based practice. It is expected that this role will also rotate to other departments within the hospital to cover leave and assist in the Emergency Department (ED).

Externally, the position holder will professionally liaise with a network of healthcare providers and agencies. Ideally you will be either an Australian Citizen or have Permanent Residency Status.

You will enjoy the benefits of employment including salary packaging and access to a range of education opportunities onsite. The roster provides for an appealing work life balance to enjoy the great attractions in the region. Central Gippsland is just over 2 hours drive east of Melbourne and is a great place to get close to nature with access to beaches, national parks and snowfields and presents an enjoyable lifestyle with a city vibe but without the hustle and bustle.
