Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

Growth Programs arose as a result of Victorian Government commitments.  The program has provided CFA with an opportunity to improve service delivery one of the largest and most complex projects the organisation has undertaken.  The 350 Firefighter Program (P350) implements the government commitment to deliver 450 new career firefighters for Victoria, of which CFA's component is 350.  The Program will recruit and train 350 new career firefighters by 2018.  The growth will be supported by creating and deploying 350 mixed rank positions, and undertaking a large program of capital works, procurement of new appliances and equipment.  The Capital Sub-Program is responsible for managing the acquisition of new land and the building of seven new fire stations, as well as minor and major modifications to 20 other fire station. 

The primary purpose of this position is to support this complex project through provision of efficient, effective and confidential co-ordination and administration services for the Capital Sub-Program of P350.  This includes co-ordination of general administration, managing and facilitating meetings, production of a wide range of project documentation and maintaining a variety of project files and spread sheets.

Working with limited direction from the Program Manager, the Project Support Officer will administrate the project.  This will be accomplished by collaborating with the wider Capital Sub-Program Team.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing project support services and an understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, a proactive approach together with well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a small team.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and meet tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated excellent skills with Microsoft Office products including Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
