Position Details

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is looking to appoint a technically savvy Team Leader to join our Inspection Services team.

This position will be responsible for delivering technical knowledge and application to the Inspection function, undertaking audit and inspection of practitioners, monitoring inspection functions, providing advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders as well as leading, developing and managing a high performing team.

Responsibilities:

Team Leader

  • Oversee the day to day activities of the team to ensure business outcomes are delivered and provide regular reports to the Manager.
  • Monitor and evaluate employees' performance and ensure that the team is performing in line with the VBA's monitoring and evaluation practices.

 

Inspection Advice

  • Coordinate the provision of technical reports, input and strategy into a variety of matters including site inspections and assessment of relevant documentation.
  • Provide expert opinion and advice on matters relating to the termination of building surveyor appointments, building orders, owner builder certificates of consent and matters of dispute or complaint.

 

Stakeholder Liaison and Advice

  • Enhance the VBA's profile with its primary stakeholder groups including industry participants and building consumers in Victoria through strong customer responsiveness and service delivery.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

 

  • A current registration as a building surveyor (unlimited or limited), with high-level technical knowledge and skills is essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the building industry, relevant legislation and contemporary and emerging issues.
  • Experience in managing and developing teams to achieve outputs within a customer-service environment.
  • Strategic planning skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify, and develop goals and strategic direction.

Salary Details

$118,908 to $139,017 per annum (+ 9.5% super)
