Position Details

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is in the early stages of a significant, organisation wide effort to uplift our data and analytics capability. We have fascinating subject matter to work with and provide the community with a highly regarded and much valued service. We are welcoming applications for Reporting Developer.  This role is full time ongoing.

 

The purpose of this role is to help us:

  • Improve the rigour with which we record, store, transform and present our performance data
  • Maintain and improve our systems that manage data to continuously improve data quality and reliability
  • Provide the organisation with innovative and impactful interpretations of our performance data

 

About the role

The main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior executives, to ensure that their reporting needs are accurately captured and well understood
  • Development and documentation of user stories
  • Translating business requirements into technical specifications
  • Engaging, and working with IT (or other providers) to have functionality and enhancements made to the data warehouse, and other reporting solutions and systems, to enable reporting solutions. 
  • Building reports and dashboards using OBIEE 12C (including Visual Analyser) and working with multiple data sources
  • Collaborating on projects with the Insights Team to develop reporting solutions, including embedding analytical methods in organisational reports and dashboards.
  • Providing input and advice to the Data Governance (DG) Committee Working Groups with regard to issues relating to reporting, systems, data quality and data completeness, to drive improvements and align practices with DG strategies

 

About you

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in a relevant IT, scientific or engineering discipline.  You will be experienced in Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence implementation and deployment of organisation wide reports and dashboards in addition to a thorough understanding of all stages of a BI project implementation life cycle.

 

There will be a demonstrated understanding of data integration issues, logical and physical data modelling concepts (relational and dimensional) and experience in the use of BI and ETL tools.  Experienced in engaging users in the development of requirements for reporting, including the creation of technical specifications, business requirements documentation.

 

You will be an excellent communicator and have strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills.  You will demonstrate lateral thinking skills, with high attention to detail and skill to identify issues and proactively problem solve.

 

Finally, you will have the ability to participate in a team environment and ability to decide priorities, make decisions and take independent action.
