Position Details

Midwifery & Gynaecology
Post Graduate Midwifery Student/Registered Nurse

 Part time fixed term (2 year) positions – 3 shifts per week

Commencing February 2018


Applications are invited from Registered Nurses interested in becoming a Midwife by undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery (Federation University Australia, Churchill) and completing the clinical component of the course at the West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul. Applicants must have two years post registration acute clinical experience.  This is a paid employment model, with course costs at the candidate's expense – proof of acceptance at the University must be provided.


The successful applicants will gain a broad knowledge base and experience across all areas of Midwifery under the expert guidance of our Midwifery Clinical Educator and experienced Midwives. The Midwifery unit of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group, is a family centred contemporary facility, is dedicated to serving the needs of the community whilst always striving for excellence.



  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Completion of a further 12 months in an acute setting flowing completion of a Graduate Year.
  • Confirmed enrolment in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery with Federation University Australia, Churchill having an agreed contractual arrangement with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group.
  • Successful completion of all academic university requirements and milestones each semester throughout the course duration.
