Legal Advisers and Policy Officers - VPS Grade 3

Exciting opportunities exist for Legal Advisers and Policy Officers on an ongoing or fixed term basis to be part of a high performing team in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) where you will deliver sensitive legal policy and legal advice to the Premier and other DPC Ministers on key civil, criminal and whole of government legal issues.

The Office of the General Counsel navigates legal and policy challenges with technically outstanding legal advice and practical, evidence-based solutions.  We deliver legal advice and policy reforms from the centre of Government and provide legal advice to our Ministers and the Department  as well as performing an in-house legal advice function for the Department's diverse internal operations.

Reporting to the Secretary of DPC, our General Counsel has management responsibility for the Office assisted by an Executive Director, Assistant General Counsel and four teams led by Managers. These teams are:

  • Legislation & Policy
  • Corporate Law
  • Legal Policy
  • Public Law


There are a number of current and future opportunities within the Office of General Counsel for Legal Advisers and Policy Officers. We are recruiting to fill current vacancies and intend to also create a pool of suitable candidates to draw from as vacancies arise.
