Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

As part of Technical Asset Services, the Fleet Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance, refurbishment and disposal of over 2000 first response appliances and equipment.

District Mechanical Officers carry out mechanical tasks associated with the maintenance and servicing of fleet assets as directed by the Officer-in-Charge ensuring relevant safety standards and maintenance procedures are adhered to.

In addition participate in the after-hours availability roster for mechanical support.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualifications:
    • Qualified Motor Mechanic
    • Heavy Rigid Driver Licence
    • Ability to maintain safety at an Incident Scene and render assistance to others (First Aid L2)
  • Proven ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience in the maintenance of vehicle braking systems, drive line components, engines and body components.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate efficient time management skills.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records including labour hours allocation, materials used and work performed.
