Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

Organisational Development & Capability Business Partner (OD & Capability BP) is responsible for consulting and engaging, developing and rolling out initiatives to build people capability as per the P&C Plan. This role will partner across CFA to design and implement strategies that develop and strengthen people capability and support the advancement of the P&C priorities together with inclusion and fairness across CFA.

The OD & Capability BP role will strengthen employee capability throughout the employment lifecycle, by integrating people programs and projects to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives. 

Key responsibilities will include a range of initiatives to support the P&C Plan for both volunteer and CFA employees, including planning, developing and executing people initiatives across: talent management, change management, leadership and professional development, administration of the People Matter Survey, compliance training and induction.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Learning and Development, Human Resources, or other related field and/or proven experience undertaking a similar partnering role in a large and complex organisation
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing a range of OD and leadership development initiatives.
  • Experience in building effective, fit for purpose, talent pipelines through supporting leaders to identify talent, develop workforce plans and talent & succession plans
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with internal stakeholders to implement effective solutions.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to write Executive and Board papers to a high standard.
  • A strong understanding of the people aspects of change management
