Position Details

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) has an exciting opportunity for a talented and highly motivated strategic thinker to join the Victorian Centre for Data Insights as Manager, Policy and Planning

Victorian Centre for Data Insights is a dynamic new team at DPC. The Centre will help transform the way the Victorian Government uses data to inform policy making and service design. 

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Victorian Centre for Data Insights, this role is responsible for working in a fast paced and collaborative environment; leading responses to complex, whole-of-government policy problems and engaging across government to contribute to support the function of the Centre; and providing strategic advice to drive Victoria's public sector reform agenda. 

To be successful in this position you will; 

  • Provide authoritative advice to the Premier, Special Minister of State, the Secretary and senior officers on the policy and strategic implications of major initiatives in the delivery of their sector reform projects, particularly the improved availability and use of public sector data.
  • Communicate recommendations in a clear and persuasive manner, cutting through complexity to present information to decision-makers in ways that are direct, compelling and influential.
  • Monitor the progress and implementation effectiveness of government policies and programs from a whole-of-government perspective.
  • Initiate, build and maintain collaborative relationships with other branches in DPC and DTF, and other Government and non-government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and lead a team, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork across the whole branch.
