Position Details

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join the Victorian Centre for Data Insights. 

Victorian Centre for Data Insights is a dynamic new team at DPC. The Centre will help transform the way the Victorian Government uses data to inform policy making and service design. 

Reporting to Manager, Analytics, Victorian Centre for Data Insights, this role is responsible for;

  • Responsibility for specific data analysis tasks and actioning requests for stakeholders as required involving collecting, organising, producing, interpreting, analysing and presenting data
  • Gathering and investigating data and statistical information from a variety of sources to develop systems and data solutions
  • Identifying and resolving problems using knowledge and experience, identification and development of ideas, analysis of alternative courses of action and their implications
  • Working collaboratively in a team environment, consulting and sharing of information with others and communicating decisions and progress to achieve business outcomes

 To be successful in this position you will have;

  • Experience developing analytical products such as reports, dashboards, visualisations, and algorithms for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and  at least two of: R, Excel, Python, Scala, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or ESRI
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, experimental design, hypothesis testing, time series analysis, forecasting
  • Practical experience of working in an agile team using Agile engineering practices
  • Exposure to Big Data, Analytics, Software Engineering, Data Science environments
