The Victorian Institute of Teaching is seeking a motivated and positive Marketing and Communications Officer to join our busy Communications team. 

The role will provide support the Communications team to maintain the accuracy and consistency of key communications to ensure messages are clearly and accurately communicated to teachers, principals / early childhood managers and other stakeholders.

 Key duties

  1. Provide specialist communications advice and assistance (including development of web content / design, marketing collateral, EDM campaigns) ensuring style guidelines and standards are maintained.
  2. Develop and maintain website and intranet content management, ensuring content is up-to-date, relevant and WCAG compliant (including web analysis).
  3. Provide basic graphic design assistance, including managing the photograph library and pre-production editing of photographs.
  4. Manage the design, production and distribution of bi-monthly staff newsletter as well as assist with production and distribution of member e-newsletters / EDMs.

 Key selection criteria

  1. Advanced written communication skills: Prepares briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
  2. Strong verbal communication skills: Confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and interesting way. Understands and meets the needs of target audiences.
  3. Strong organising and planning skills: Identifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal. Identifies more and less critical activities and operates accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required.
  4. Project management skills: Ability to manage time critical projects, producing high quality results within tight deadlines.
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills: Sees things from other's point of view and confirms understanding.
  6. Sound experience and proven skills in marketing / communications campaigns and projects.
  7. Sound experience and proven skills in working with HTML, content management systems and the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically PhotoShop, In-Design and Illustrator).
