Clinical Educator – Maternity
Learning & Development

Registered Nurse Grade 4

Part Time – 28 hours per week, fixed term until 8 April 2018

 

Applications are sought from suitably qualified and experienced Registered Midwives for this position. The successful applicant will contribute to ensuring the delivery of quality care and services through the provision of appropriate clinical education and support for staff.  The person we seek will be able to demonstrate suitable general midwifery experience, a recognised qualification and proven record in clinical education, enthusiasm for teaching, clinical credibility, commitment to quality, ability to manage change and willingness to accept a challenge.

Responsibilities may include: supervision of undergraduate student midwives/nurses, graduate midwives/nurses and newly appointed staff, involvement in the nursing orientation program and in-service education programs, education program development and review, and clinical support in the acute ward areas, across the Midwifery & Gynaecology department. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to be self-directed, motivated and innovative and be able to work collaboratively within the Education team. The minimum requirement is Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards) and experience in clinical teaching. Working towards, or intending to work towards a higher qualification in clinical education would be advantageous. While this position is currently advertised as a fixed term opportunity, there may be scope for permanent hours as unit needs are further assessed.

Requirements include:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife (ideal candidate will be dual registered)
  • Minimum of five years post registration clinical experience.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (or working towards this)
  • A background in the acute area
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills including:
    • Effective communication and problem solving skills.
    • Preparedness to appropriately confront issues.
    • Ability to motivate others, either as individuals or groups.
    • Ability to plan, organise and direct the activities of others.
