Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Reporting to the Manager Finance Business Partnering, this role plays a critical commercial and business partnering role across multiple directorates. This position requires a high performing individual with exceptional communication skills to assist and partner with executive directors and managers in the development and management of their departmental budgets. Your main focus is forward looking, not only providing forecasting to the business but also in identifying opportunities to make a real difference and offering value-add advice. The role provides quality assurance services, specialist advice on rigorous compliance matters and undertakes complex financial analysis to support business decisions. The role has one direct report.

Some of the key duties and accountabilities of this role include:

  • Provision of strong authoritative financial leadership to directorates in order to influence business matters and the execution of the Finance Strategy.
  • Assistance with developing the strategy for the business unit through the provision of high quality financial and non-financial information.
  • Proactive identification of opportunities within the business unit for cost/benefit analysis, and to influence decision making.
  • Review of budgets, forward estimates and spending patterns to identify key themes, compliance issues and learning opportunities to action improvements and remedies as required.
  • Proactive identification, analysis and communication to Corporate Finance of any transaction or matter that might have a significant implication for Forward Estimates or reporting in the Annual Financial Statements.

As a suitably experienced finance professional, you will have significant and relevant experience in providing quality budgeting and financial management services to a wide range of senior stakeholders and providing meaningful and relevant strategic advice.

You will have demonstrated success in influencing, advising and consulting with senior business managers to achieve goals, whilst simultaneously managing complex, detailed and accurate deliverables. Critical to your success in this role will be your analytical skills, leadership qualities and superior communication to influence outcomes.
