Position Details

About the role:
Reporting to the Program Manager Indictable Crime, you will conduct high quality casework in indictable matters and appear as an advocate in a range of criminal hearings including but not limited to committals, pleas, some trials and Serious Sex Offender (Detention and Supervision Order) Act matters for your own cases and as briefed by other lawyers in VLA. You will provide legal advice, both written and oral on case strategy, sentencing, criminal procedure and evidence, and assist in developing the advocacy expertise of our junior lawyers through mentoring and training.

About you:
You will have extensive criminal law advocacy experience including the ability to conduct committals and pleas in the County Court. You will have a passion for advocating for clients and the ability to develop strong relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and stakeholders at all levels.
