Position Details

Senior Adviser, VPS-5, Integrity & Advisory

The Integrity and Advisory Branch undertakes governance functions and helps to maintain public sector integrity by:

  • advocating for an apolitical and professional public sector;
  • issuing and applying codes of conduct and standards;
  • monitoring and reporting to public sector body Heads on compliance with the public sector values, codes of conduct and public sector employment principles and standards;
  • reviewing employment related actions and making relevant recommendations; and
  • maintaining a register of lobbyists.

The Branch also conducts inquiries and organisational reviews into the efficiency, effectiveness and capability of public sector organisations, and undertakes reviews and research into contemporary public policy.

This position will be responsible for managing and undertaking various governance, integrity and enquiry functions of VPSC, and will be required to work across the Branch on other priorities as needed.

The ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in policy roles within the public service or broader sector and a strong understanding of the systems and structures of government. Experience in operational processes or systems, governance and/or integrity-related policy would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written skills and experience in the preparation of timely, clear and concise reports and briefing papers.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities and experience in a complex and time-pressured environment.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and liaison skills, including effective consultation with both small and large groups of internal and external stakeholders, on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Highly detailed focus, with the ability to work and present information in an accurate, detailed and precise manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate the Public Sector Values.
