Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

Communications provides critical voice and data connectivity of CFA members involved in all categories of operational response.

Working closely with the ICT Services Team, F&EM Directorate, Senior Managers, staff and volunteers, the MCO will ensure that CFA has the appropriate policies, processes and resources in place to ensure strategically located and maintained assets are ready to support CFA's service delivery obligations to Victorian communities.

Leading the Communications Operations group, the position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining CFA's extensive voice and data distribution networks, assessing new communications and telecommunications technology, managing vendor relationships and developing & representing CFA's strategic interests with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Ability to constructively contribute to the strategic direction and business planning for ICT Services
  • Ability to assess and quantify risk around the use and management of CFA and non-CFA communications infrastructure
