Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

CFA's Community Engagement team drives and oversees a range of initiatives with the ultimate aim of leading and supporting engagement for safer communities.

The Team Leader Engagement Content and Capacity plays a key role in managing and driving change in engagement capability for our members and engagement content and messaging for the community engagement team. The position has an ‘internal engagement' focus and responsibility and oversight for the resource and project management within the engagement team, people management, professional development, and subject matter expertise. This position also plays a key role in managing and accountability for delivery of the team business plan & budget.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (eg: community engagement, project management, business management, change management) is preferred, and/or relevant industry experience (equivalent 5 years minimum)
  • Highly developed organisational and planning skills in the context of a complex, changing business environment requiring agility and flexibility
  • Significant experience in managing and reporting against large-scale project/programs and budgets
  • Proven managerial skills that demonstrate the ability to obtain effective cooperation and contribution from stakeholders and ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders at varying levels and seniority
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a large and diverse team of professionals
  • Proven track record of partnering  with a range of internal and external stakeholders, leading and influencing change in relation to community engagement and/or communications
