Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

In this role you will support the development, implementation and delivery of psychological health and wellbeing programs and initiatives across CFA.

This position has a strong frocus on the delivery of education and training packages to support the mental health of CFA's workforce. These programs aim to create awareness of positive mental health, reduce stigma and enhance help seeking behaviours, develop leadership capability in mental health, and build member self-awareness, resilience and skills in stress management and mental health literarcy.

The position will be required to travel to locations across Victoria with the primary location to be negotiated with the incumbent.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualified as a registered psychologist; unconditional registration through AHPRA with the Psychology Board of Australia and currency of practice.
  • Have an understanding of the psychological risks associated with emergency response activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering psychological health education and training including facilitation of workshops and group discussions.
  • Demonstrated high level experience managing and advising on complex mental health issues
  • Ability to update and maintain knowledge of (psychological health and safety) best practice across industry.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship management skills, including being able to work in a team environment and autonomously.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in supporting/educating other professionals in areas relating to mental health and wellbeing.
