Infection Control Nurse (Part Time, Fixed term position)

About the opportunity

An opportunity exists for a motivated individual to join the Infection Control Department as an Infection Control Nurse to cover for planned leave (from 15th July 2019 to 22nd September 2019).

Your role will involve:

  • Acting as a resource person on infection control issues for the organisation, ensuring safe and appropriate infection control management is maintained throughout all areas.
  • Ensuring all care delivered across Moyne Health Services is undertaken using current Infection Control best practice guidelines and techniques.
  • Providing leadership regarding requirement of infection control management
  • Ensuring reflective practice is part of the development, maintenance and prevention of infection control measures for the consumer's needs.
  • Ensuring Infection Control program demonstrates consistent practices that meet the Infection control guidelines and Accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrating involvement as the Infection Control Nurse at Committees by providing a monthly activities report for meetings
  • Responsible for collection, collation and reporting of statistical information relating to Infection Control
  • Coordinate & report on Internal & External audit outcomes and follow up any recommendations.
  • Meet all reporting requirements of Department of Health and Human Services through VICNISS in regard to surveillance disease management and infection control for Acute and Aged care services.
  • Assist with the delivery ongoing education to staff within the Health Service.

We're looking for:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
  • Diploma in Infection Control will be desirable
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills relevant to infection control regulations and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in relation to National Safety and Quality Health Service Accreditation Standards, Aged Care Standards and Community Common Care Standards as well as reporting requirements for Acute and Aged care sectors.
  • Satisfactory National History Criminal Check
