Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

In this role you will provide highly specialised technical support for the ongoing maintenance and installation of communications infrastructure.  Specialist communications knowledge and significant expertise is applied to ensure that CFA's communications systems are deployed and maintained in a manner that supports CFA's emergency response operations.  This may require direct involvement at emergency incident locations, including being on the fireground during wildfire suppression activities.

You will apply advanced skills and experience to complex restoration problems and to the supervision and guidance of team members and manage and/or coordinate complex installation and upgrade projects requiring integration with other services.

The successful applicant will have:

  • AQF4 or Diploma or Associate Diploma or Certificate of Technology
  • Able to satisfy the requirements for National Public Safety training package “Maintain Safety at an Incident Scene (PUAOHS 002A). 
  • Applicants should hold a current drivers licence. 
  • Demonstrated skills in fault diagnosis and service restoration in communications systems and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate and analyse complex faults;
  • Proficiency in the operation of more complex and sophisticated equipment;
  • Skills in the development and/or installation and commissioning of communications technologies;
