Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

About the role:

Joining our team as Volunteer Programs Leader, you will play an integral role in modernising and sustaining our volunteer workforce now and into the future.

With a strategic mindset and analytic capabilities, you will lead change and facilitate innovation to contemporise CFA's approach to volunteerism and youth engagement. As part of the Volunteer Sustainability Leadership Team you will significantly contribute to the thinking and design of specialist programs that aim to strengthen, grow and recognise our volunteer workforce, particularly the next generation of CFA volunteers. You'll also manage a small team and work collaboratively with internal and externals stakeholders to ensure our volunteer workforce is vibrant, strong and sustainable.

Please note, this role is a parental leave contract for 12months with potential for extension.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, social science, humanities or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating multiple and/or complex projects and an understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills that demonstrate the ability to obtain effective cooperation and contribution from stakeholders and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage financial resources.
