Position Details

This is an exciting role for a talented and highly motivated individual to lead the future development of the Victorian Government's Data Reform Strategy, including a strategic review of the Government's open data policy. Working closely with the Manager Data Reform and Chief Data Officer, this role will set the strategic direction for an ambitious program of whole-of-government reforms.

The role will examine issues including: how to build a public sector with the capabilities to meet the challenges of the digital and data-driven world; how to drive social and economic value from public sector data; and ensuring that the public sector's approach to data ethics keeps pace with societal expectations and new methods of data analytics. It will also consider emerging trends such as blockchain and Artificial Intelligence, as they relate to the public sector.

The role requires a strong strategic leader who recognises the opportunities presented by data for government, has excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to deliver change in complex government contexts. While this is a research-based role, the successful candidate will also need to be able to build relationships and work collaboratively with departments and agencies to change behaviour in a pragmatic and impactful way.

This is a fast paced and collaborative environment, in which we constantly explore, test and iterate in order to support government to deliver better outcomes for Victorians.
