Position Details

VMIA is the largest government insurer in the southern hemisphere and protects more $201 billion in State assets for Victoria.

We are not a commercial insurer, we exist to serve Victoria and insure it's people and places; its institutions and infrastructure; icons and heritage.

Our role is more than insurance though, we help Victorian government entities anticipate risks – both current and emerging – so they can make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.

In response to changes in the business environment and advances in technology, we're changing the way we work.  Our new model has been designed to deliver value through strategic partnering, drive performance and financial leadership.  Multiple opportunities have been created and we're ready to meet people willing to ‘get busy', challenge the status-quo, learn and share their expertise so we can build a team that is inspired and prepared for the future.

As our Assistant Accountant, you will support our objective to strengthen the State's balance sheet. You will enable services to continue by ensuring we have appropriate controls and governance around our finances. You'll already have experience in the application of accounting standards and principles and have thorough knowledge of MS Office products with an emphasis on Excel. You're known for having an eye for detail and spotting patterns in data. You work cross-functionally, improving processes as you go.

We would encourage job applications from all genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
