Almost every year between June and September the Southern Right Whales return to the waters off Warrnambool and often swim within a hundred meters of the shore.

Position Details

An exciting new part-time opportunity is available for a suitably qualified and experienced Child Psychologist (Grade 2) or paediatric Social Worker (Grade 2) to join our child-focussed, multidisciplinary team as part of the “School Readiness Funding” initiative, in partnership with the Department of Education and Training (DET).

This initiative will provide kindergartens and primary schools with quality programs and supports to help children get the most out of their early learning, with access to Allied Health being one of a number of supports available to kindergartens.

The team of Allied Health professionals will work in collaboration with educators in kindergartens, and with families, to build their capability to create an environment for kindergarten children that promotes:

  • improved speech, language, social interaction and early literacy outcomes
  • self-regulation and positive and pro-social behaviours
  • social and emotional wellbeing and mastery of everyday tasks.

The School Readiness Program will provide services across the South West region, and staff may be based in Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton or Camperdown.

Positions are available for a three-year period, until December 2022.

To apply, you must hold a current Victorian Driver's Licence. Psychologists must have current AHPRA registration, and Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.

The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children (WWC) Check and will be required to consent to and undergo a Police Record Check and provide evidence of current immunisation status in alignment with South West Healthcare's Immunisation Policy.
