Position Details

Who We Are

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities.  We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.

As the control agency for flood, storm, tsunami, earthquake and landslide emergency, we take the lead in the preparation and response for those hazards. Under the coordination of Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), VICSES works within the broader emergency management sector, wherein all agencies and services work as one to ensure the safety of the state. 

We also work closely with key partners and municipal councils throughout Victoria to develop and improve their emergency management plans in relation to the performance and exercise of their duties and responsibilities under the Emergency Management Acts 1986 and 2013.

The Role

This role is based in the VICSES Head Office, however some activities may also be conducted within the regional areas of Victoria. Accordingly, some out of hours work and travel may be required.

Accountabilities of the role include:

  • Regularly monitor and analyse performance of content through review of traffic and other metrics.
  • Support the development of an internal process and resources for the maintenance of intranet and web content that is current, comprehensive and relevant to our primary audiences, including templates, forms, guidelines and workflows.
  • Optimise platform-based search functionality through the maintenance of metadata and tagging.
  • Make recommendations and implement changes to improve search engine optimisation for the VICSES public website, including link strategy, keyword strategy and content optimisation.
  • Work to deliver an enhanced end-user experience through improvements to structure, functionality and look and feel in line with the VICSES Style Guide.
  • Proactively review content, imagery and graphics to ensure compliance with VICSES Style and Writing Guides.
  • Be the first point of contact for content editors, providing support, trouble-shooting, authoring rights and training (for both the use of the online platform in addition to content and structure) as required.
  • Liaise with Information Services on technical matters, including break fixes, escalation of issues, and support requirements from external providers.
  • Proactively identify and recommend changes to overall functionality, engagement, and look and feel of intranet and public website, where applicable
