Position Details

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic person with a positive attitude, some garden experience, a strong work ethic and great communication skills to join our small and highly flexible gardening team.

The Gardens and Grounds team at Government House Melbourne is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of the 11-hectare heritage gardens and grounds at Government House Melbourne.

Maintenance of Government House gardens and grounds is carried out to a high standard of horticulture and presentation, that includes, ornamental horticulture and garden bed maintenance, Kitchen Garden, annual bed maintenance, turf maintenance, irrigation maintenance and repairs, infrastructure maintenance, and site cleanliness.

The candidate will assist in the implementation of an annual works program using efficient and effective horticultural practices, including; planting, pruning, fertilising, irrigation, mulching and weed control as well as prepare the grounds to a high standard for functions and events and must be able to operate all horticultural equipment and machinery in a safe manner.

The closing date for this position is Friday 1 March.
