Position Details

Director of Nursing Residential Aged Care

Permanent Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight

The overall focus of the role is management of the aged care services with a significant mandate to ensure the service is viable, focused on resident needs and provides quality care.  The incumbent will provide leadership and support while working closely and collaboratively with the managers of the aged care services to achieve these objectives.  In addition, the incumbent will take a lead in transition to residential care for prospective residents.

This position shall demonstrate expertise in clinical management, staff administration and leadership and will facilitate positive relationships between clinical staff, other directorate staff, patients/residents/clients, carers and the wider community. They will have extensive knowledge and experience in health services management and co-ordination of resources as these are an essential component of the role.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Strong leadership skills and capabilities including strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent people management skills and capacity to provide a professional role model to staff by providing a coaching and mentoring role
  • Ability to appropriately counsel staff and respond to relevant staff issues
  • Demonstrated quality improvement, project management and change management experience and achievements within in a complex organisation
  • Sound understanding of business principles, continuous improvement and key organisational performance indicators
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated record of significant achievements in a senior management role
  • Proven interpersonal, negotiation, advocacy and communication skills
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate performance management and identify opportunities to realise enhanced performance
  • Capacity to lead a dynamic and multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge and understanding of health economic reforms applicable to area of responsibility
