Position Details

Bring your leasing/property management expertise to Parks Victoria and oversee the commercial agreements process for a varied portfolios of assets spread all across the State. You will have exposure to some of the most diverse landscapes, heritage locations and nature-based projects in this varied, rewarding and fulfilling role. A new challenge awaits for the right candidate, looking to get into nature. In this role you will:

  • Investigate, assess, develop and negotiate new, and often complex commercial agreements

This is an ongoing, full time role located in the heart of Melbourne's CBD

About the branch

The focus of the Commercial team is to enable the realisation and activation of visitor economy opportunities through the leasing and licensing, or operational management of Parks Victoria assets. Key to the success of the team is a customer service culture and commitment to Parks Victoria's brand pillar of Supporting Nature's Future, ensuring our decision-making is sensitive to environmental, cultural and community values.

About the role and your responsibilities:  

As the Senior Commercial Agreements Officer, you will be responsible for leading and developing Commercial Agreements Officers and contributing to the development of policies and key initiatives.

You will provide specialist advice and use your expertise to negotiate and close complex contract negotiations. The emphasis is on delivery of financially sustainable outcomes while aiming to out-perform against Parks Victoria's strategic objectives.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Property economics or approved equivalent is essential.  
  • Sound knowledge and experience of commercial property principles and contract management involving leases, licences, permits and/or consents.  
  • Experience in and motivation for dealing with complex negotiations involving multiple legislative influences.
  • Well-developed and proven negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external.  
  • Excellent written communication skills, and experience in preparation of strategic recommendations to Board level.
  • Regular and unplanned travel to rural and remote areas of Victoria (including areas where no public transport options exist) may be required as part of this role.
