External Communications Manager ready to lead the development of an integrated communications strategy for VMIA (12-month fixed term role)

As the Victorian Government's insurer and risk adviser, we protect the public services and spaces that make living in Victoria so special. Health, education, even heritage – our role is more than just insurance and involves helping organisations make the right choices about risk.

Your role

We're looking for an experienced external communications manager to help us grow our brand profile and connect with our clients and stakeholders with purpose and clarity.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to take the lead on developing and implementing an integrated communications strategy for VMIA. As a senior member of the communications team, you'll work alongside the Executive Manager, Communications and a range of internal stakeholders, including the executive leadership team.

Day to day, you'll be a key source of strategic communications advice within the business, and ensure our messaging and branding is consistently applied.

What's more you'll become part of the Office of the CEO and a talented team of people who are passionate about doing work that matters.

About you

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Strategic communications experience
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent writer and storyteller
  • Digital marketing and campaign management experience
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work in a busy environment
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products and contemporary communication tools and channels
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud apps – in particular InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro (desirable)
  • Bachelor or Master's in communications, marketing or public relations or equivalent experience in a senior corporate public affairs or communications role
  • Understanding of the Victorian public sector preferred

We encourage people from all genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

About us

At VMIA, our flexible workplace lets you be yourself. We encourage our people to put forward fresh ideas and explore their potential and we invest in ongoing learning and development. Plus, our health insurance, fitness membership and Myki travel perks are a nice little bonus too.

How to apply

If you'd like to help make Victoria an even better place to live, we'd love to hear from you. Find out more about the role through the position description and how to apply at https://www.vmia.vic.gov.au/about-vmia/careers. Or email Hanita Singh at careers@vmia.vic.gov.au
