Position Details

A People Operations Manager ready to inspire (Ongoing, full-time)

As the Victorian Government's insurer and risk adviser, we protect the public services and spaces that make living in Victoria so special. Health, education, even heritage – our role is more than just insurance and involves helping organisations make the right choices about risk.

Your role

As the People Operations Manager, you will be vital to the success of our new five-year strategic plan. You will become part of the Office of the CEO and a talented team of people who are passionate about doing work that matters.

Your key focus will be embedded in operational services for people and culture activities covering the employee life-cycle, ensuring they are aligned with our strategic direction and values. As we look to grow here at VMIA, we need you to build connected processes which support that growth.

You are a people leader of a small team of Business Partners, Advisers, Coordinator and Analyst, you will elevate the team and operational capability of the organisation by implementing innovative and contemporary solutions.

This role will report to the Executive Manager, People & Culture.

About you

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Minimum 5 -7 years' experience as a Human Resources leader in management roles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
  • Proven experience and expertise in understanding business requirements and providing HR partnering solutions
  • Understanding of how metrics and systems improve productivity and deliver ROI
  • Sound knowledge of workplace relations and employment law
  • Well-developed coaching and management skills which inspire optimal use of talents
  • A confident professional who provides confidential advice based on sound judgement and integrity
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Psychology or other related discipline
