Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

CFA's Community Engagement team manages initiatives that directly contribute to safer communities. Our team are searching for someone with a passion for enhancing public safety, using best-practice and evidence-based engagement methodologies.

As our Senior Advisor Program Development, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining community engagement programs and supporting key internal and external stakeholders. This position provides support to stakeholders who coordinate and deliver our programs and initiatives, as well as enhancing our existing programs and identifying new approaches to community engagement.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (eg: social science, community engagement, community safety, project management)  and/or relevant industry experience (equivalent 3 years minimum)
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of community engagement programs
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills including public speaking and facilitation
  • Highly developed organisational and planning skills in the context of a complex, changing business environment requiring agility and flexibility
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at varying levels and seniority while maintaining effective working relationships 
  • Ability to work autonomously across various locations across Victoria, while maintaining a strong presence within the team
