Position Details

The Country Fire Authority (CFA) is one of the world's largest, and most highly regarded community based emergency services organisations. We respond to fire and other emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Whilst our firefighters are the cornerstone of CFA services, what goes on behind the scenes is just as important in helping to protect lives and property.

About the Role:

As an emergency services organisation, to ensure that critical support can occur 24/7 CFA relies on an effective and smooth operation of all the CFA Networks - including WAN, LAN, security, Unified Communications and overall data centres infrastructure.

The Network Administrator will be responsible for the administration of CFA's mission-critical infrastructure including modification and changes, upgrades, replacement and refreshment, aligning the support provided with the established technical procedures and process architectures required to operate and support CFA's business requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Communications or Engineering, relevant industry certifications and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, in a large and complex enterprise environment with relevant network administration background.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated IT project management experience and delivery success in a complex environment.
  • Experience with various security and authentication methods such as RADIUS, Active Directory, Certificates etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various LAN technologies such as structured building cabling, fibre and wireless technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various WAN technologies including, but not limited to ISDN, xDSL etc.
  • Knowledge of ITIL based change management methodologies required.
  • Demonstrated liaison and negotiation skills including enlisting commitment from a variety of stakeholders and achieving positive outcomes and an ability to work effectively and harmoniously with other team members and clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a range of areas including general network theory, including Cisco network equipment and software, data center and applications, and business continuity experience.
  • CCNA certification - CCNP is preferable.
