Position Details

About the role:
We are seeking an Associate Public Defender to appear as in-house counsel in summary contests, committal hearings, pleas, and appeals within the criminal jurisdiction in various courts and tribunals.

You will provide legal advice, both written and oral on sentencing, criminal procedure and evidence. You will also draw upon your sound knowledge and experience to assist in developing the advocacy expertise of our junior lawyers through mentoring and training. 

About you:
You will have considerable knowledge and experience in the practice of criminal law, especially in summary and indictable matters under both state and federal legislation. You will have a passion for advocating for clients and the ability to develop strong relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and stakeholders.

You will have proven experience in working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive learning environment. Crucial to your success in this role will be your ability to manage multiple commitments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
