Position Details

The Role

We now have a vacancy for an Environment Manager to join our team on a three-year fixed term basis. Reporting to the Senior Environment Manager, this role is responsible for providing advice on a range of planning and environmental issues while working closely with a range of government departments and industry stakeholders. The Environment Manager will ensure the compliance of contractors with environmental requirements and approval conditions for Major Road Projects Victoria.  

You will be working at our Echuca office with some time also spent on our construction sites.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Providing timely and accurate review and advice on relevant environmental documentation for the project including Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and subplans, the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Site Environment Plans (SEPs)
  • Manage third-party Planning, Heritage and Environmental consultants
  • Oversee planning and environmental approval processes including obtaining secondary consents, permit applications, environmental referrals and amendments
  • Oversee, participate and/or undertake environmental monitoring and compliance programs conducted by MRPV's delivery partner for the project, including site inspections and audits to monitor compliance, along with relevant reporting on relevant project environmental requirements, contractual and legislative obligations
  • Develop strong relationships and liaise closely with relevant regulators and stakeholders including DELWP, DoT, EPA and DAWE among others
  • Participate in the development and delivery of appropriate training processes to ensure awareness of the environmental sensitivities on the project are well understood by project and contract personnel
  • Oversee the implementation and reporting of the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating tool
  • Assist in the analysis of commercial and contractual documentation associated with environmental issues and/or claims as part of the implementation of the project
  • Mentoring members of the MRPV team

This is a three-year fixed term position.

 

About You

In order to be considered for this important role candidates must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, environmental science, planning, engineering or related discipline
  • Deep experience in environmental site control preferably within infrastructure, oil & gas and/or utilities
  • Recent experience liaising with the EPA particularly regarding contaminated land matters
  • Experience writing environmental management plans
  • Contractor compliance, auditing and inspection experience
  • A current Victorian Driver's Licence

Candidates who have prior experience working with permits will be viewed favourably as will those that have experience working for a similar government entity and/or tier-one construction contracting firms.
