About the role:
The Equality Law program provides discrimination and human rights law services and engages in strategic advocacy that promotes equality.

In collaboration with the Program Manager, you will deliver day-to-day operational management and legal supervision and mentoring of lawyers undertaking work in the Equality Law Program. You will also work as a senior lawyer in complex discrimination matters and strategic advocacy projects.

You will actively contribute to the Equality Law Program's leadership and profile through stakeholder engagement and contributing to strategic planning and internal and external communications. This includes assisting with the expansion of legal services to victim-survivors of workplace sexual harassment, which is currently underway.

About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • People management skills with the ability to provide effective leadership, mentoring and support to members of your team
  • Substantial knowledge and/or practical experience in complex discrimination law matters and relevant court procedures
  • High level interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, engage and communicate effectively with a wide range of clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to provide sound advice on legal and policy issues, and experience advocating for law reform and/or social change
